Camps
"Attending Riverbend's summer
camp has enabled my sons to
understand more about nature
and their role in helping take
care of our environment. At a
young age, the educators teach
the children about doing
important things to help the
Earth. As they are growing up
and returning to Riverbend
throughout the school year and
summers, they see what it truly
means to Recycle, Reduce and
Reuse. We feel very fortunate to
have Riverbend in our
community and look forward to
seeing its continued growth in
the future!"

Around Riverbend 2 Rainier
Our Mission: To stimulate appreciation, awareness, and understanding
of our total environment and to preserve a natural wildlife habitat.

Since 1974, Riverbend Environmental Education Center has been enriching the
lives of children and families through engaging environmental education.  From
its beginnings as a quiet nature preserve, Riverbend has evolved to a thriving
center for environmental education that touches the lives of nearly 12,000 people
annually.  Whether it is to participate in a public program or just to wander on our
trails, a visit to Riverbend offers families a quiet place to relax, unwind and
observe the wonders of nature.

At Riverbend, kids can just be kids again, free to dig, touch, build, explore and
discover the natural world around them. We believe a steady supply of sunshine,
dirt & water are essential ingredients for healthy, happy children.  And we are not
alone; a growing body of evidence supports the idea that exposure to nature
comprises a vital part of children’s physical, emotional and mental well-being.  It
is our way of grower greener children for a brighter future.

How to Support?
On a local, regional and national level, a rising effort to reconnect children with
nature is underway. As the need for environmental education increases,
Riverbend continues to grow, expanding our reach to more children and families.

Riverbend derives approximately 50% of our support from program fees; the
remainder comes directly from the generosity of individuals, foundations and
corporations who believe in our mission's work. Your annual membership gift or
contribution makes it possible for Riverbend to touch the lives of children with
nature's wonders today, investing in their future and the future health of our
planet. Your generous support helps us:

  • Reach more than 12,000 annually with school, camp, scout and family
    programs
  • Preserve and restore 30 acres of open space
  • Inspire people to understand the importance of and care for our natural
    resources
